[VOTE] Release Apache YuniKorn 1.6.1 RC1

Hello everyone,

I would like to call a vote for releasing Apache YuniKorn 1.6.1 RC1. This is a bugfix release, meant to address several critical issues found in 1.6.0.

The release artifacts have been uploaded here: https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/yunikorn/1.6.1-RC1/

My public key is located in the KEYS file:  https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/release/yunikorn/KEYS

JIRA issues that have been resolved in this release: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/YUNIKORN-3005?filter=12353780

Git tags for each component are as follows:

yunikorn-scheduler-interface: v1.6.1-1
yunikorn-core: v1.6.1-1
yunikorn-k8shim: v1.6.1-3
yunikorn-web: v1.6.1-2
yunikorn-release: v1.6.1-1

Once the release is voted on and approved, all repos will be tagged v1.6.1 for consistency.

Please review and vote. The vote will be open for at least 72 hours and closes on Monday 20 Jan 2025 12:00:00 MST.

The e2e gang scheduling test "Verify_Default_GS_Style" failed in the
release with error message:

   - "placeholder timedout is incorrect (expected 3, got 6)"

We should include YUNIKORN-2953 in 1.6.1

It's been suggested that we should add YUNIKORN-2953. I agree, and since we have yet to get any +1 vots for RC1, I have canceled this release. I will cut RC2 shortly and open a new voting thread.
