[jira] Commented: (OPENJPA-929) Scheam generation from schema tool

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OPENJPA-929?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=12675533#action_12675533 ]

Milosz Tylenda commented on OPENJPA-929:
----------------------------------------

A few notes for potential implementor:
- DB2 and Derby create schema implicitly if CREATE TABLE refers to it.
- PostgreSQL needs explicit CREATE SCHEMA.
- On Oracle a schema is in fact a user name.
- MySQL does not support schemas. In CREATE TABLE schema.table(...) "schema" is a database name.
- Firebird does not support schemas and seems to reject CREATE TABLE schema.table(...).

> when using the openjpa tool and specifying the schema it would be nice if the schema generation tool could create the schema in the database if it doesn't exist.
