[m2] support for authenticated repository?

Hi there,

does maven (or better wagon) support authenticated repositories (e.g. HTTPS with
basic authentication)?

If I want to use an internal repository (e.g. some subversion that requires
authentification), how can I convince maven to download artifacts from there
properly handling 403 responses?
The <repository> section does not have tags reserved for authentication data
such as a password. If I add a <server> section to my settings.xml with the same
id, it does NOT seem to work eigther. Do I miss something?
Should this use-case be supported by maven?

Thank you very much...
  Jörg

Posted by Carlos Sanchez <ca...@apache.org>.
it's the <server> section in settings.xml, there's a guide in the docs

I could give you my word as a Spaniard.
No good. I've known too many Spaniards.
