I noticed these in the 3.0-alpha-3 repository. As the module contains no source and no longer shades, there is no reason to produce these JARs.

here is the change I would commit at present.

However, I would say that it is better to move GlobalSettingsTest to be an integration test instead (actually testing the Maven installation, and skipping when in the embedder). This would reduce the change to just being <packaging>pom</packaging>.

Any objections to such a change?

Well, it doesn't take a dedicated IT: If the global settings are broken, Maven won't start so quite the entire suite will tell.

I specially created this UT to not require an IT to find validation errors. So unless there are other technical concerns, I would like to keep this UT around.
