Hm, embarrasingly it looks like I didn't understand the conflict resolution  
completely.  Looking at section 5.5 of the XSLT 1.0 specs, all _matching_ rules  
are ordered by import precedence.  All matching includes any matching rules from 
D, C and Util, so Util might eventually override rules from C.  
  
Sorry for the false alarm, I've spent half a day without a clue on this.  Keep  
on the good work!
