Disabling obsolete modules from the trunk build

Hi Devs,

I'm working on removing the modules we no longer required and deprecating
out modules which we will not target for the upcoming release (because they
do not yet support the architectural changes). But for now I'll be only
updating the maven build process (module sources will remain). You may
track the changes through [1]
