1.7.0 - Removal of org.apache.geronimo.osg.locator.Activator and
ProviderLocator from java-api
Hi,
just something to clarify:
In the actual 1.7.0 / 4.7.0 staging tree the
org.apache.geronimo.osg.locator.Activator and ProviderLocator are no longer
in org.apache.openejb:java-api.
This makes the geronimo-javamail_1.4_mail needed for running, cause it now
contains the Activator an ProviderLocator.
Not really a problem by itself, but this does no longer allow the
replacement of the mail api.
(Geronimo has some problems with imap, we did this in the past)
Was this intended ?
Reagards,
Olli

Well if you remove all osgi stack it shouldn't so maybe a transitive
dep of activemq or openjpa. All should be optional (in tomee it should
be the case, not sure in embedded mode we cleaned up things very
well).

Hi,
just fooled a little bit around, result: Don't know.
It seams in our company application, using openejb embedded and may things
more it has some effect. (Hence a classloading issue).
But in simple examples a complete removal of the mail api has no impact.
If I may find the cause I gone post it.
For now I posted a bug report in geronimo about the imap thing and we
probably use some workaround.
Regards,
Olli

Hi
IIRC this was intended.
Regarding the switch of mail impl you can still add geronimo-osgi-locator jar ;)
About the removal itself: which spec jar has an issue without it? It
should be used everywhere but not block anywhere.
