e-mail tool

Is there a utility available which would organize the e-mails send on the
dev and user lists? I'm thinking of something that would list the first
e-mail in date order, and each corresponding response in a tree like
structure under the first. This stikes me as a better way to capture the
e-mails.

Is there such an animal?

I use Netscape Communicator for reading mail, and it is really easy to set
this up:

* Set up a message filter that copies all messages that have
a "To:" or "Cc:" address containing STRUTS-DEV to a special
folder for this mailing list. (I am on ~25 mailing lists -- this lets
me focus on one list at a time).

* View --> Sort --> By Thread to sort messages as threaded
  conversations.

By default I leave all my mailing lists sorted this way, but Netscape lets
you change the sort order on the fly as well -- so you can say "sort by
sender" and see all the messages from a particular person, no matter which
threaded conversation they were participating in. But I normally go back to
threaded mode after that.
