SVN Branches

Has anyone had luck with SVN branches?  I created one earlier today - 
/trunk/descriptors into /branches/pluto-1.1/descriptors - yet things 
aren't flowing down to the branch from the trunk.  Does anyone know how 
to fix this.  Any ideas?
