After a vote on the jakarta PMC and the Gump PMC, with a result of 10 +1 votes, I request to shutdown the alexandria-dev@jakartas.apache.org mailinglist. Gump has moved on a long time ago and apparently some people. The dev list was shutdown in Februari 2004 and had 2 tomcat questions since then.
It would be favourable to have a message send back to the user, stating the list has been shutdown, and link to the http://www.apache.org/foundation/mailinglists.html page in the message.

Only one person has misdirected mail there in two years. There is no
need for a redirection. The list has been removed.
