Configurations

I have recently upgrade from cocoon 1.7 to 1.7.4 and now have the following problem.

I have written a number of customer producers that use the Configurations to configure themselves. Where as before the Configurations passed to my init() methods were the entire hierarchy it would seem that they are relative just to that producer. I need to access the original configurations file that has not had info stripped from it, is there any way to do this?
