Cactus plugin with maven beta 8. I am totally lost. HELP

I am actually new to Maven, and totally a newbie with jelly. But I do know 
how to use ANT.
Anyways, I am interested in generating a site with maven that will include 
generated Cactus test report for my servlets. I think this is possible with 
the Cactus plugin. There is a sample cactus project in the cactus plugin 
folder which I have tried to implement, but I have failed to make it work. 
Can someone help me. I have spent around 12 days behind this issue and am 
totally lost.

If someone can provide me a simple working example, or a step by step guide, 
it will really help me.

I believe the Cactus plugin is broken in Maven b8 (it was working in
b7). I know Eric Pugh has spent some time fixing it but I don't know if
it is in a working state or not.

I'll start looking into this and fixing whatever needs to be fixed soon
if nobody beats me to it...
