Hi

I have been using Open Office on my iMac for years, without any issues.
However, when I upgraded to the latest version 4.1.2 this morning the program
wont start at all. I just get the following message:

"OpenOffice” can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer."

Have you not registered the new version with Apple?

I think the only way I can run it is to turn off the mac security feature that
is blocking it, which is something I'd rather not do.

This is a known problem explained in the release notes:

Mac OS X: Apache OpenOffice 4.1.2 will be flagged by the Gatekeeper facility in
Mac OS X. This is a new feature to help guard against malware on Mac systems.
There is a procedure laid out at the following link to allow applications not
installed from the Mac App store to run. See the Mac support article.
