[jira] [Commented] (BIGTOP-147) Some users would like to not have to build docs

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/BIGTOP-147?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=13274422#comment-13274422 ]

Konstantin Boudnik commented on BIGTOP-147:
-------------------------------------------

I am fairly sure btw, that none of the current upstream components need JDK5 for their Forrest step. Hadoop (0.21+ has the issue fixed in MAPREDUCE-2228 and HDFS-1552). I am sure that the same patch can be easily back-ported to Hadoop 1.0 and later. Pig has this issues fixed starting from v0.8 (PIG-1508).

I have opened up HADOOP-8399 to make it happen in Hadoop 1.0

> Not sure how to do that without messing up packaging and build, since the doc target may be part of the upstream build and packaging will fail if it does not see expected files.
