Summary: DailyRollingFileAppender weekly rotation misleading in
                    week 1
           Product: Log4j
           Version: 1.2
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: Appender
        AssignedTo: log4j-dev@logging.apache.org
        ReportedBy: oliver.siegmar@xams.org

I'm using the DailyRollingFileAppender of log4j 1.2.15 with a DatePattern set to
'.'yyyy-ww

I noticed that the last week log file of 2007 .2007-52 is followed by a .2007-01
instead of a 2008-01. I guess this is because Dec. 30/31 2007 (depending on the
first day of the week) is in week 1 but this behaviour is very misleading.

------- Additional Comments From carnold@apache.org 2008-01-17 09:51 -------
This is a manifestation of the documented behavior of java.util.SimpleDateFormat,
Seehttp://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=4267450. If and when SimpleDateFormat
has additional specifiers that allow the expected behavior, DailyRollingFileAppender should support them.
