Hi, log4j switched from category -> logger a long time ago: http://logging.apache.org/log4j/1.2/apidocs/org/apache/log4j/Category.html .  AFAICT "category" doesn't even work with OpenJPA anymore (logger does though).  Attached doc patch updates the logger names from category to logger.
