[jira] [Commented] (DAFFODIL-2273) Simplify Enumerations/typeValueCalc feature

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DAFFODIL-2273?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=17388981#comment-17388981 ]

Mike Beckerle commented on DAFFODIL-2273:
-----------------------------------------

git hash eb603e7f4a342e1a63d1e07f59c714cf531724bc (on 3.2.0-SNAPSHOT branch) removes several of the functions.

There is more to do here per the wiki page to further reduce the properties count and simply further.

But inputTypeCalc and outputTypeCalc are used by some "real" DFDL schemas for applications, so those will have to be phased out slowly or become a switchable feature that one must enable.

> The proposal for enumerations and typeValueCalc is here:
> There are comments on this wiki page about ways it can/should be simplified before we really start exploiting it in generated schemas that make extensive use of enums.
> The mechanism should be revised so that far simpler expression of enums can be achieved that avoids the need for complex types.
