[GitHub] [mesos-site] andreaspeters opened a new pull request #1: add asf file to enable the website also after the 1.7.2021

andreaspeters opened a new pull request #1:
URL: https://github.com/apache/mesos-site/pull/1

As described in the EMail from Daniel, we need the asf.yml file to be sure that the mesos website will be online after the 1.7.

   ---
   Dear Apache projects,
In order to simplify our web site publishing services and improve
self-serve for projects and stability of deployments, we will be turning
off the old 'gitwcsub' method of publishing git web sites. As of this
moment, this involves 120 web sites. All web sites should switch to our
self-serve method of publishing via the .asf.yaml meta-file. We aim to
turn off gitwcsub around July 1st.

Thanks for merging. But at the Apache status page, our mesos-site is
still in yellow. So, maybe it cannot handle the "yml" extension and have
to be "yaml". I open a new PR to correct it.

Is this actually in a meaningful location? The website is generated and published from the Mesos sources (see, https://github.com/apache/mesos/blob/master/site/README.md#publishing-the-site), and I wonder if there is a way to trigger a non-standard site build pipeline from an `.asy.yml` file. Or does `.asy.yml` just take over the job of `doap.rdf` in this repo which by the looks of it might come from https://github.com/apache/mesos/blob/master/site/doap.rdf.

@qianzhangxa You dont have perms to merge the PRs in this repo? That's strange. This repo is a mirror of our ASF git repo and I thought all committers had merge permissions on GitHub. Can you reach out to ASF Infra and ask them to give you and other committers merge permissions on GitHub for this repo (and ideally mesos repo as well)?

In confluence I could not find a way for the non-standard site building. :-( Thats why my idea was, add the asf.yml into these repository therefore our mesos.apache.org website will not be offline. It's only to get more time. Then we can have a look how to change (simplify) the site-building. The asf.yml support jekyll to generate a static website. Maybe we can move to that?! :man_shrugging: I don't know, I'm only thinking, we are a tiny team, we have to simplify these kind of things.
