4th February 2008.

To resolve bugs and security issues, the Tomcat project does not
produces patches for old versions, it releases a new version. Therefore
5.5.25 was end-of-life as soon as 5.5.26 was released.

The current 5.5.x release is 5.5.33, released 8th Feb 2011.

There was some discussion of a 5.5.34 release in the next few weeks.

Note that there are currently no plans to stop 5.5.x releases.

When 4.1.x releases were stopped, users were given 12 months notice. I
would expect a similar notice period when 5.5.x releases are stopped.
