[users@httpd] can't start a fresh 1.3.26 compile

Solaris 7, Sun Ultra II

Apache 1.3.26, perl 1.5.6, gcc 3.0

CC=gcc ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/apache --with-
perl=/usr/local/bin/perl --enable-module=most --enable shared=max

... seems OK, do basic httpd.conf ( I have 4 servers so not so bad).

../bin/apachectl start

cannot load /usr/local/apache/libexec/mod.vhost.alias.so into server:
ld.so.1: /usr/local/apache/bin/httpd: fatal: relocation error: file
/usr/local/apache/libexec/mod.vhost.alias.so: symbol
ap_os_is_path_absolute: referenced symbol could not be found
../bin/apachectl start: http could not be started.

Nothing in the logs, never got that far. I can comment out
mod.vhost.alias.so and it just gets the same error on whatever module
tries to load first. Any help??
