[VOTE] Release Apache Jackrabbit 1.0

Hi,

I have posted a candidate for the Apache Jackrabbit 1.0 release at

   http://people.apache.org/~jukka/jackrabbit/1.0/

See the included RELEASE-NOTES.txt file for details on release
contents and latest changes. The changes since 1.0-rc3 are artifact
name changes, dependency cleanups, and a minor fix to the newly
introduced TestRepository class. There are no changes to the core
functionality that passed the JSR 170 TCK as 1.0-rc3.

Please vote on releasing these packages as Apache Jackrabbit 1.0. The
vote is open for the next 72 hours, and only votes from Jackrabbit
committers are considered binding. The vote passes if at least three
+1 votes are cast.

[ ] +1 Release the packages are Apache Jackrabbit 1.0
[ ] -1 Do not release the packages because...

[X] +1 Release the packages are Apache Jackrabbit 1.0

predefined node type tests all fail on a windows box when building
jackrabbit from the source distribution. but I only see this as a minor
issue, since actual functionality is not affected. This is just an issue
with the test case itself.

I tested the jackrabbit-server web application on tomcat 5.5.16 and it
worked fine.

Great work! Thanks a lot Jukka for your effort putting together this
first Jackrabbit release.

+1. Sigs verified and build on OS X (j2se 1.5.0_05-83) works well.
I wish we had better documentation, but first we need to attract
more people willing to write documentation.

Based on Marcel's error report I have fixed and regenerated the
jackrabbit-server-1.0.war package. The updated package as well as the
modified jackrabbit-jcr-server-1.0-src.jar source package are now
available at http://people.apache.org/~jukka/jackrabbit/1.0/ (the
changed files are timestamped 03-Apr-2006). I also added a helpful
note to the 0.9 upgrade instructions in RELEASE-NOTES.txt based on
feedback from Alvaro Gonzalez. The original files are available for
reference at http://people.apache.org/~jukka/jackrabbit/1.0-original/.

Instead of restarting the release vote I'm extending the vote period
to the next 72 hours to allow everyone the change to recast their
votes if they so want.

The vote passes with 8 binding +1 votes and no -1 votes. One
non-binding +1 vote was also cast. The votes were:

Binding votes (Apache Jackrabbit PMC):

   +1 Tobias Bocanegra
   +1 Roy Fielding
   +1 Stefan Guggisberg
   +1 Felix Meschberger
   +1 Peeter Piegaze
   +1 Edgar Poce
   +1 Marcel Reutegger
   +1 Jukka Zitting

Non-binding votes:

   +1 Torgeir Veimo

Thanks for all the votes and to anyone who has helped make this
release happen! I will now set up the files for mirroring and send the
official release announcement once the mirrors have been updated.

Darn, my bad. I had the cqfs files lying in Tomcat's shared/lib from
an earlier performance test so I never noticed the problem. I'll fix
the jackrabbit-jcr-server packages and extend the vote period so
people can recast their votes if needed. (I suppose that this is a
proper way to handle the vote, please let me know if there is a better
way.)

[ ] +1 Release the packages are Apache Jackrabbit 1.0
[X] -1 Do not release the packages because...

the jackrabbit server web application:
http://people.apache.org/~jukka/jackrabbit/1.0/jackrabbit-server-1.0.war
is broken.

with http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JCR-379 we removed the cqfs
dependency, which is IMO correct. but we forgot to adapt the
configuration accordingly. the repository.xml still references the cqfs
filesystem:
http://svn.apache.org/viewcvs.cgi/jackrabbit/tags/1.0/jcr-server/webapp/src/webapp/WEB-INF/repository/repository.xml?view=markup

See also re-opened JCR-379.
