extension + extended path info

All,

  I have a question about extended path info.  It seems like an increasingly
common way of passing additional information (action/read/update type info)
to the servlet context.  Is there any move to suggest this (or has it been
suggested) as an improvement to the framework?  It seems it would be helpful
to be able to use extension mapping, but also be able to get the extended
path info (or visa versa) as a way to integrate J2EE security with the
framework.

 

Just a thought, wondering if there is any interest.
