pppd owns Apache ports when Apache is shutdown
Summary: pppd owns Apache ports when Apache is shutdown
Product: Apache httpd-2.0
Version: 2.0.40
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: Other
Component: Core
AssignedTo: bugs@httpd.apache.org
ReportedBy: josh@thechatplace.net
CC: josh@thechatplace.net
On my Red Hat Linux 8.0 box, with Apache (httpd-2.0.40-8), when I
`/etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd stop` according to `netstat -anp` port 80 and port 443
is still listening however it is owned by pppd. When i try to
`/etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd start` Apache tells me "(98)Address already in use:
make_sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:80". I have to `killall pppd` to
get the port freed. ppp version is 2.4.1-7 (i am using the ppp and apache that
comes with the Red Hat Linux 8.0 distribution)
