[jira] Updated: (BEEHIVE-663) Controls tutorial uses variable BEEHIVE_HOME without prior description
[ http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/BEEHIVE-663?page=all ]
Eddie O'Neil updated BEEHIVE-663:
---------------------------------
Assign To: Steve Hanson
Fix Version: V1
Steve, we should probably remove the BEEHIVE_HOME environment variable from the samples. It used to be set in v1-alpha, but we've removed it entirely from the distribution in favor of a "beehive.home" property in build.properties for each application.
So, I'd guess that the tutorial just needs to change to discuss how to set beehive.home.
Any other thoughts?

> The variable BEEHIVE_HOME is used to describe a folder location in Step 1 of the Controls tutorial, under the "To Create a Development and Test Application" heading, but BEEHIVE_HOME is not included in the list of other variables to set (ANT_HOME, JAVA_HOME, etc.) under the "To Set up the Development Environment" heading.
> Either include the BEEHIVE_HOME variable in the preceding list, or do as in the Page Flow tutorial (Step 1; under the "Make a Project Folder" heading) and use <BeehiveRoot> with the explanation "(<BeehiveRoot is the top level folder of your Beehive installation; a typical value might be C:/apache/apache-beehive-1.0.)".
