[jira] [Commented] (SPARK-6479) Create external block store API

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SPARK-6479?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=14490320#comment-14490320 ]

Reynold Xin commented on SPARK-6479:
------------------------------------

[~zhanzhang] I thought about this more -- can you rename everything to "external block store" rather than "offheap store"? I think offheap will be very confusing, because we are already using offheap memory in Spark (through DirectByteBuffer and Netty), and will likely use it more.

> Would be great to create APIs for external block stores, rather than doing a bunch of if statements everywhere.
