[users@httpd] Beginner q. Who owns the files
After doing a default server install of redhat 7.3, i noticed that root owns
the /var/www/html directory and pretty much all its content so I always have
to ftp files into my home directory, then su, then copy them into the site's
directory.
How can I avoid this? should I change the owner of the directory and all
the files to something else? Who should ideally own all my site's files:
root? apache? another user?

Posted by skull <sk...@drizzle.com>.
For me I change the all except the CGI and so on directories. The only
ones I change are under /var/www/html/user other words anything that is
under the /html I change to the users name. I also made a group for WWW
Also anyone that runs and maintains APACHE I set the other directories
to them.
