Summary: Abnormal behaviour mod_ssl and graceful/restart
Product: Apache httpd-2
Version: 2.0.61
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: mod_ssl
AssignedTo: bugs@httpd.apache.org
ReportedBy: srattai@zmnh.uni-hamburg.de
Apache 2.0.61 with mod_ssl seems to have a weird behaviour when httpd receives
restart or graceful on my machines. It messes up its log by replacing the
openssl version number by a space or strings from the config or strings like
'X\x16\x18\b'. I can reproduce it on 5 different machines.
Example: Server starts:
Apache/2.0.61 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.0.61 OpenSSL/0.9.8e configured -- resuming normal
operations
after first graceful:
Apache/2.0.61 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.0.61 configured -- resuming normal operations
after few more graceful
Apache/2.0.61 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.0.61 ion/vnd.wap.wmlc configured -- resuming
normal operations
The string from the log appears within the http header sent to the client which
seems to confuse firefox once in a while.
When I try the same thing with 2.0.59 (compiled and run on the same machine,
compiled using the same options), everything goes well.

This was already fixed in 2.0.63, which will be available in a few days.
Or try to apply this patch:
