[jira] [Created] (INFRA-3691) Spamassassin2.zones.apache.org can't reach spamassassin.org on port 25 for email purposes

Spamassassin2.zones.apache.org can't reach spamassassin.org on port 25 for email purposes
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                 Key: INFRA-3691
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-3691
             Project: Infrastructure
          Issue Type: Bug
      Security Level: public (Regular issues)
          Components: Zones/Jails
            Reporter: Kevin A. McGrail

Mail from users on zones2 that generate output to email to private@spamassassin.org are bouncing. Bounce follows.

Testing manually shows the same behavior

telnet 192.87.106.226 25
Trying 192.87.106.226...
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused

I'm wondering if there is a rule on the box or on odyne that is blocking it?

Appreciate it if you guys could look into the issue.

Regards,
KAM

>Are you sure that private@spamassassin.org is the right email address?

No, I think I used a VERY old email alias. I will try private@spamassassin.apache.org. Great point!

> Firstly, I dont see any MX records for spamassassin.org - so not sure how you expect the mail to get anywhere. (See below)

More just an aside, For e-mail, in the absence of an MX record, the A record is a de facto MX record.

> Secondly, why are you connecting to the 1st spamassassin zone for SMTP ?

Just connecting to the A record as the defacto MX record above.

Thanks as always Tony!

Believe Tony's point that I'm using a very old email address is likely the source of the issue.
