Robert A. Morris edited comment on MAHOUT-1513 at 4/18/14 9:41 PM:
-------------------------------------------------------------------

In the spirit of weaning, somebody needs to warn in the public document http://mahout.apache.org/users/clustering/canopy-clustering.html that CanopyClustering is presently deprecated in 1.0 and point to Streaming KMeans

Ideally, the deprecated classes, or at least Canopy, would also point to Streaming KMeans

> citing [~smarthi] "I meant to deprecate first (and eventually remove) Canopy clustering. This is in line with the conversation I had with Ted and Frank at AMS about weaning users away from the old style Canopy->KMeans clustering to start using Streaming KMeans. No point in keeping Canopy once users switch to using Streaming KMeans."
