[ANN] Cayenne 2.0.1 released
I am glad to announce Cayenne 2.0.1 release - our first release via
Apache incubator:
http://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/CAY/2006/10/07/
Enjoy!

In case of 2.0.x - yes (as Maven artifacts are built with Ant; for
3.0 the repo is set up in pom.xml and then "mvn deploy" does the
job). Also "mvn deploy:deply-file" is a better alternative to scp:
http://maven.apache.org/guides/mini/guide-3rd-party-jars-remote.html
Site sources are located here (just type ant in the site project dir
and it will print the upload instructions)
https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/incubator/cayenne/site/

Is it a case of just SCP'ing the files on people.a.o? If so, I don't
have any problem doing it. Unfortunately, I've never really deployed
any maven artifacts.

Not a problem.
There are no snapshots, you have to build them with Ant. Check out
2.0.1 tag from here:
https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/incubator/cayenne/main/tags/2.0.1/
cayenne/
Then build them:
cd cayenne-ant
ant mvn-install -Dproject.version=2.0.1-incubating
This will place the snapshots in your local repo. "cayenne-ant/
maven/" contains the pom templates used in the build. As far as I can
tell the group names are already converted to Apache, so you won't
need to change them.

Okay, only two more questions, hopefully. Were there actually 2.0.x
maven snapshots? I've only seen 3.0.x ones. If not, should I just be
adjusting the 1.2.x POM from ibiblio?

Ok, looks like the release artifacts (as opposed to snapshot
artifacts) should go in here:
http://people.apache.org/repo/m2-incubating-repository/
which resolves to this server path:
scp://people.apache.org/www/people.apache.org/repo/m2-incubating-
repository
If you (or anyone else) have time to do that, I'd appreciate posting
the snapshots from 2.0.1 tag and updating the docs (and the site).

Hi Bill,
I agree about redundancy. There is no need for any special
permissions, and you should be able to update that folder with your
Apache UNIX login. Regarding documentation for the release procedure,
we have a page under dev guide describing how to assemble (but not
how to push) 1.2 and 2.0 releases:
http://cwiki.apache.org/CAY/release-guide.html
I think there are still some problems with Confluence Auto Export
plugin, but once this is resolved, we may add a section on how to
push the release.

Hey Andrus,
We should get some redundancy on this so that you are not the only
one able to push a release.
What are the credentials required for pushing something to
http://people.apache.org/dist/incubator
I apologize for not just going and trying it myself...
We should probably put a wiki page together for it. I'd be glad to
write it up once I can get it done.
Thanks again for getting the release pushed out.

Ok, turns out incubator release directory is not backed up and was
lost during the migration. I just restored its contents, so the links
from the download page should be working again.

Looks like the people.apache.org migration is still in progress, so
the "/dist/" directory is not available (yet?) Good news is that the
copies of the release files used in the voting survived in my home
directory. So in addition to Michael's .mac account you can use this
link:
http://people.apache.org/~aadamchik/release/2.0.1/
(I should probably change the links on the site temporarily, unless
somebody tells me why this is a bad idea, like the site sync doesn't
work, etc.)

I can't even connect to people.apache.org at the moment. The other
day I received an e-mail that began:
Upcoming Saturday 21st through Monday 23nd the ASF is moving a
non-trivial portion of it's infrastructure...
Perhaps the server hosting people.apache.org is part of that migration
and they haven't completed it yet. That is just a guess, but a likely
answer. If you are in a hurry and are ambitious, you could checkout
the source from Subversion (they weren't migrating the server hosting
the repository) and do a build yourself. Otherwise, I'd wait and try
it later on today or tomorrow. If it really becomes an issue, we (I?)
can make it available elsewhere temporarily.

Re: Re: [ANN] Cayenne 2.0.1 released

Hi,
I was trying to download the new Apache-branded version of Cayenne,
buy the link provided in the download page
(<http://people.apache.org/dist/incubator/cayenne/cayenne-2.0.1-incubating-macosx.dmg>)
is not active (I get a time-out trying to reach them).
Have the images moved, or is there some temporary problem right now?
Thanks for your attention.
Best regards,
Giulio Cesare Solaroli
