[jira] [Commented] (BIGTOP-323) Start integrating Flume NG

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/BIGTOP-323?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=13180911#comment-13180911 ]

Roman Shaposhnik commented on BIGTOP-323:
-----------------------------------------

Couple of very minor nits:
   1. I'd rather have /usr/bin/flume being Flume NG (AKA the latests and greatest Flume) and /usr/bin/flume-og (or something like that) reserved for the old generation flume
   2. I'd rather add -incubating to FLUME_BASE_VERSION making it FLUME_BASE_VERSION=1.0.0-incubating and dropping a hardcoded -incubating from the spec file

Also a question -- why did dependency on Zookeeper got dropped?

> Flume NG is getting closer than ever to a release. So we should create a branch for it to test its compatibility in a hadoop 0.20.20X environment.
> Flume NG will also be added to the hadoop 0.23 branch once HADOOP-7937 gets fixed (blocking flume ng compilation)
