   Well, as I said, the only thing I can think of is delaying a NumPy release a bit to give you a chance to release a new version. That way anyone who updates their full stack is guaranteed to have a working system.  I will claim that *+not* a lot of people upgrade numpy specifically but are reluctant to upgrade pyarrow also.
   
   I wonder how many production systems it would even hit, I would have guessed that most *production* systems pin versions?
