backup to swap
HI,
Is there any way to push backup copy to swap file in ignite ? thanks.
Thanks.

Hi Anil,
You will not find it there backup exists on higher level.
You can only check if node is primary or backup for key by calling:
ignite.affinity(cache_name).isBackup(node, key);

Anil,
As discussed before, you can try to implement your own eviction policy to
achieve what you want to achieve. See Andrey's suggestion on how to check if
a node is primary or backup.

Hi Val,
I tried to find a way to move backup copies to swap by looking at
following classes.
GridCacheSwapManager.java
GridCacheMapEntry.java
GridOffHeapProcessor.java
GridOffHeapPartitionedMap.java
I could not find where backup copies are created or would have overlooked.
Thanks

Anil,
Can you share what you tried? What exactly doesn't work? Please be more
specific.

I don't understand this one. Backup copy is exact replication of primary
copy. So if primary copy consumes 5GB and you have 1 backup, it will be 10GB
in total.

Sorry for another question.

Re: backup to swap

Hi Val,
i have configured a cache as 5 GB heap memory and enabled swap with backup
as 1. and it is 4 node ignite cluster.
then primary copy = 5 GB and backup copy = 5/4 GB. then total memory for
application is heap (for application) + primary copy + backup copy ? Please
clarify.
Thanks.

Anil,
The implementation of eviction policy is not provided out of the box, so you
will have to do it yourself. But it's not a very difficult task in my view.

Anil,
What exactly does not exist? There is a swap space implementation out of the
box, and you only need to implement eviction policy.

Thanks Val.
That feature does not exist for now :). and we cannot use any persistence
store for our usecase.
it will be very good feature. Can we raise a feature request for the same ?
Thanks.
