[DISCUSS] 1.8.2 RCs on or about july 7th?

Hi Folks!

Our last release was about 5 weeks ago and we've had issues close on branch-1.8 since then. I'd like to start doing RCs by the end of next week in hopes that we can stay under 2 months between releases.

I'm going to dedicate some time at the end of this week / start of next to do a pass of getting available patches applied. I'd appreciate it if some other committers could do so as well.

For contributors generally if you have a patch nearly ready or with pending feedback, it'd be nice if you could make a push as well but please don't worry if things don't make it into 1.8.2. I'm going to start pushing to get us on a monthly release cadence, so there should be plenty of additional chances for your work to get into a release.

Okay, life got away from me a bit obviously. :)

I'm going to aim for an RC on July 26th. I have to finish working out
having a machine I own that can run docker successfully in order to
get everything built.

I filed AVRO-1885 to track the release's progress[2].

+1 for a RC. Thanks, Sean!

Could you open an issue for a 1.8.2 release if you haven't already, like
AVRO-1833 [1]? That way we can see what needs to be reviewed easily.
