Can anyone help me out for deploying a sample war file.

Hi,

I am trying to deploy a sample war file.
The command mentioned in README file to deploy war application is

java -jar bin\deployer.jar --install --module myWebapp.war

But while I am using the above command nothing happens and it shows me
the usages.

I tried to use below command

java -jar bin/deploy.jar sample.war

and got some exception.

Here's the exception stack trace

bash-2.05# java -jar bin/deployer.jar deploy testApp/example.war

That's what I thought. Well, to be honest (I can't find a better word at
the moment) it's way too old and doesn't support all of the features the
recent version does. Build Geronimo from its sources (@see
http://wiki.apache.org/geronimo/Building) or download the latest
unstable build (@see http://geronimo.apache.org/downloads.html).

Let's move this discussion to the user mailing list. Reply-to set.

BTW, what Geronimo version do you use? Did you build it yourself or is
it M3 or the recent 1.0-169186?

Hi jacek,

I stopped the geronimo instance and tried it but still i am
getting some exception.
Though this time I got a new exception "Unable to connect to local
deployer Service"

java -jar bin/deployer.jar distribute examples.war

You've just changed two things at the same time and that's why you're
facing it.

The exception is that Geronimo is running, but no deployer was available
to handle the request for distribution. Shut down your Geronimo instance
and try again. If it blows up, it will say you more detailed information
about the reason of the failure.

Hurraaay! You've done it! You're so close to mentor others. I'm quite

Hi,

If you are going to use the command "java -jar bin/deployer.jar
deploy sample.war" then make sure that server is running. Otherwise
you can use "java -jar bin/deployer.jar distribute sample.war" which
deploys when there is no server instance running.

thanks,
-Sundar.
