Karaf features on Felix

Is it feasible use individual features that are bundled with Karaf on plain
Felix? In particular, I need to install my container as an OS service, so
the Karaf wrapper service is perfect, and Karaf "features" have been useful
in managing dependencies.

Some time ago I wrote a little maven plugin to create an Eclipse RCP
feature and target platform out of some karaf features.

What I learned there is that it is not enough to just install the
bundles the karaf features provide. You also have to install some of the
bundles
karaf provides as a basis platform. Another thing is that karaf does
some special configurations of the system package exports and configures
some endorsed libs.
Also the karaf shell commands are incompatible to gogo commands and the
plain gogo shell.

So it will not be easy to reuse the features and the feature service
outside of karaf.

There are individual sub projects that you can use, I am not sure about
the wrapper though there is repo
http://mvnrepository.com/artifact/org.apache.karaf.wrapper/org.apache.karaf
.wrapper.core/4.0.0.M1

deploying/running/starting their apps and doesn¹t use the wrapper at all.
Sometime less is more, so make sure you really need to wrapper.
