Podling Hop Report Reminder - November 2020

Dear podling,

This email was sent by an automated system on behalf of the Apache
Incubator PMC. It is an initial reminder to give you plenty of time to
prepare your quarterly board report.

The board meeting is scheduled for Wed, 18 November 2020.
The report for your podling will form a part of the Incubator PMC
report. The Incubator PMC requires your report to be submitted 2 weeks
before the board meeting, to allow sufficient time for review and
submission (Wed, November 04).

Please submit your report with sufficient time to allow the Incubator
PMC, and subsequently board members to review and digest. Again, the
very latest you should submit your report is 2 weeks prior to the board
meeting.

Candidate names should not be made public before people are actually
elected, so please do not include the names of potential committers or
PPMC members in your report.

Thanks,

The Apache Incubator PMC

Submitting your Report

----------------------

Your report should contain the following:

*   Your project name
* A brief description of your project, which assumes no knowledge of
the project or necessarily of its field
* A list of the three most important issues to address in the move
    towards graduation.
* Any issues that the Incubator PMC or ASF Board might wish/need to be
    aware of
* How has the community developed since the last report
* How has the project developed since the last report.
* How does the podling rate their own maturity.

This should be appended to the Incubator Wiki page at:

https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/INCUBATOR/November2020

Note: This is manually populated. You may need to wait a little before
this page is created from a template.

Note: The format of the report has changed to use markdown.

Mentors
-------

Mentors should review reports for their project(s) and sign them off on
the Incubator wiki page. Signing off reports shows that you are
following the project - projects that are not signed may raise alarms
for the Incubator PMC.

I didn't request anything, I just hit edit and could edit the page.

Hans, you'll need to request access. (Anyone who writes the report in
future months will need to, also.)

Bart, how did you get access?

Hi Julian,

I tried updating that page but it seemed I did not have commit rights on
that SVN.

Re: Podling Hop Report Reminder - November 2020

Posted by Julian Hyde <jh...@apache.org>.
Good report. It gives the board a clear picture of what is going on.
Thanks Bart.

"... and will be added as committers shortly". Good to hear. But let's
start following the Apache process... discuss candidates in private on
the PPMC, vote, ask candidates in private whether they want to be
committers, and announce only if they accept. Given that the
discussion/vote haven't happened, "... and are candidates for
committers" is probably a better way to phrase it.

It looks like https://incubator.apache.org/projects/hop.html needs an
update. Can someone volunteer to do that?

I encourage everyone to review the report, not just mentors. Here is
the link: https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/INCUBATOR/November2020#hop.

Re: Podling Hop Report Reminder - November 2020

Posted by Julian Hyde <jh...@apache.org>.
Hi there Hoppers,

It's report time! The project needs to report monthly for the first
three months, and then once a quarter.

When this reminder email arrives, it's useful if someone raises their
hand and says 'I'll write the report this time'. Write a draft in the
wiki page and send an email to this list to get people to review it.

Report time is also a good time to update the incubation status page [1].

When the report is complete, the mentors need to sign off. it's
helpful if you send us an email to remind us.

Julian
