In my environment I use a L3 switch.At the beginning,I didn't configure the switch to allow communications between vlans.Then i set up vlans and vlans' ip address and did the command 'ip routing' on the switch,after that,the instance can acquire ip from the vrouter which is in a different host.

The problem has been resolved。It's due to VLAN configuration on the switch。

I had the same problems, I installed use cloudstack4.0.0 + XCP 1.0.0 I have configured the physical switch interface as trunk port and allow all vlan to go through, but when guest vm and VR on different host, the guest vm still can not get ip.
but in my another environment, same as above except the physical switch is not vlan support, works fine.
