[jira] [Created] (SQOOP-530) Sqoop web page do not conform with Apache rules for public webpages

Jarek Jarcec Cecho created SQOOP-530:
----------------------------------------

Summary: Sqoop web page do not conform with Apache rules for public webpages
                 Key: SQOOP-530
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SQOOP-530
             Project: Sqoop
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: website
            Reporter: Jarek Jarcec Cecho
            Assignee: Jarek Jarcec Cecho

Namely:

* Footer is missing the statement that Apache, Apache Sqoop and the logos are trademarks of the ASF.
* The release documentation (the stuff built with Sphinx) doesn't even have a copyright.
* The Sqoop logo also doesn't have the ™ nor does the first usage of "Apache Sqoop"

Done:

* I've managed to add (TM) text after first occurrence of "Apache Sqoop"
* Release documentation do have copyright (there is entire license header present on each generated page)

Missing:

* We need to update Sqoop logo
* We need to alter footer

I've added <footer> section into site.xml and rebuild it based on http://maven.apache.org/plugins/maven-site-plugin/examples/sitedescriptor.html#Custom_footer However footer change wasn't propagated as expected. Might someone with better understanding of Apache CMS checkout what I've done wrong?

I spent hours trying to figure out how to get the footer to work for Log4j 2. I ended up having to modify the fluido template as what the default one does wouldn't generate acceptable html. See https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/logging/log4j/log4j2/trunk/src/site/site.vm. At the bottom of the Velocity template you will see it is manually generating the footer as two rows that are centered by the css.

I should add that this has nothing to do with the CMS. It is all the maven site plugin and the skin you have chosen.

Finally, yes the documentation does have the Apache license header in it. But it should have "Copyright © 2012 The Apache Software Foundation. Licensed under the Apache Software License, Version 2.0." as well as the trademark sentence in the footer just as every other page on the web site does.
