@purcell No problem! I just want to make development a little easier (I hate yak shaving).

Would you consider offering a patch to contrib/thrift.el on Savannah in order to fix this?

No, but you can. :-)

I submit a lot of trivial patches to upstream libraries on github, because I can do it quickly. But I can't do everything on my own, so perhaps you could help out in this case?
