[jira] [Created] (CASSANDRA-4178) JNA link failure logging confusing on OSX

JNA link failure logging confusing on OSX
-----------------------------------------

                 Key: CASSANDRA-4178
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CASSANDRA-4178
             Project: Cassandra
          Issue Type: Improvement
            Reporter: Noa Resare

I was somewhat surprised to learn that even though "Unable to link C library. Native methods will be disabled." was logged on startup, some JNA native calls were made.

Interesting that the "Submit patch" dialog doesn't actually support submitting patches.

Actually, I do. On a fully updated OSX 10.7.3 I get the following:

Error looking up function 'posix_fadvise': dlsym(0x7fff61713670, posix_fadvise): symbol not found
