[jira] [Commented] (QUARKS-205) Create gradle Javadoc task

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/QUARKS-205?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=15327350#comment-15327350 ]

Dale LaBossiere commented on QUARKS-205:
----------------------------------------

I tried running javadoc from gradle to see what happened. The task failed because the default configuration is more strict than what we have in build.xml. build.xml has Xlintdoc:none (java8 javadoc engine generally is more strict).

PR-135 includes a changes to address the javadoc issues raised when when Xlintdoc:none is removed. That's not required for this gradle effort but a worthwhile task in any case.

If we get to the point of needing the equivalent lintdoc:none for the gradle env adding something like the following to the top level build.gradle is apparently the way to go:

  // Java8 doclint is too picky for us right now
  if (JavaVersion.current().isJava8Compatible()) {
    tasks.withType(Javadoc) {
      options.addStringOption('Xdoclint:none', '-quiet')
    }
  }
