   I've spent sometime to revisit this issue, internally, we rely on the digest mismatch detected after DIFF sync and force a SNAP sync, but our internal code is kind of coupled with some internal implementation, and is not that clean to upstream, I don't have a big chunk of time to re-implement it based on the open source code, would suggest someone to take this Jira, I can help review it.
