[users@httpd] Apache2 & SSL confirmation of config location

Hi.

I'm just configuring SSL on Apache2, and am wondering about httpd.conf /
ssl.conf.

Some doccos put directives etc (eg below) in httpd.conf, whilst some put
them in ssl.conf.

Could someone please clarify this?

Also if someone knows of a GUI client to generate / manage keys?

Thanks,
Pete.

E.g.

Listen 80
Listen 443
<VirtualHost _default_:443>
ServerName www.example.com
SSLEngine on
SSLCertificateFile \
/usr/local/ssl/install/openssl/certs/www.example.com.cert
SSLCertificateKeyFile \
/usr/loca/ssl/install/openssl/certs/www.example.com.key
</VirtualHost>

I think you hit the wrong list. This is the apache http server users
list.

[users@httpd] Encoding URLs when proxying using mod_rewrite

Posted by Gordon Anderson <go...@3months.com>.
Hi everyone,

I'm stuck on an annoying problem with mod_rewrite and wondered if anyone can
help. We are using Apache as a front end to Cocoon (another Apache project)
- static files such as images and CSS are served by Apache, dynamic pages by
Cocoon.

One of our URLs that requires to be processed by Cocoon is of a form that
may contain spaces.

e.g.

http://127.0.0.1/r/Vacancies/Staff%20Vacancies.htm

Apache appears to be rewriting this in a form to send to Cocoon as

http://127.0.0.1/r/Vacancies/Staff Vacancies.htm

which fails.

To confirm this I tried encoding the % sign to %25 in the original URL, i.e.

http://127.0.0.1/r/Vacancies/Staff%2520Vacancies.htm

This is passed on by mod_rewrite as the correct URL
http://127.0.0.1/r/Vacancies/Staff%20Vacancies.htm

to Cocoon.

Is there anyway to prevent Apache mod_rewrite decoding the URL before
proxying it on to Cocoon.

The rewrite rule is as follows:

RewriteRule !(\.gif|\.php|\.jpg|\.jpeg|\.jpe|\.js|\.css)
http://127.0.0.1:8080%{REQUEST_URI} [P]

in the Apache configuration file. Cocoon is running on port 8080 in the
above example.

Regards,
Gordon

Hello Joshua,

I've setup SASL+TLS and whenever i start or try to send mail i get tis
error:

Apr 21 12:37:58 xaero postfix/master[4906]: warning: process /usr/lib/postfix/smtp pid 4913 exit status 1
Apr 21 12:37:58 xaero postfix/master[4906]: warning: /usr/lib/postfix/smtp: bad command startup -- throttling

I dunno where to look for the invalid syntax or what is causeing the
error?

I'd also want to ask where and filename of the stored
username:password generated by "saslpasswd2" and do i make them work
and not give me this error:

Apr 21 12:42:19 xaero postfix/smtpd[4930]: > keel[192.168.1.10]: 250 8BITMIME

Apr 21 12:42:31 xaero postfix/smtpd[4930]: watchdog_pat: 0x809f668

I've setup smtpd.conf to use sasldb

Many errors and questions, any ideas?.

Thanks a million wise postfixers :)

It doesn't matter in which file you put the directives. Note that
httpd.conf has an Include directive which inserts ssl.conf.
