* in FF3: although it appears unchecked in the user preferences, the section edit links show up on each page.

With IE7 too... According to Dirk's ChangeLog entry, section editing with FCKeditor isn't supported. So this issue can be closed.

Florian,
make sure you have emptied your browser cache, I just had similar results (on FF3/Linux) as you, they were solved after clearing the cache.

Ok, so overall:
* Section editing doesn't work with plain editor in Internet Explorer 6 and 7: Always the whole page shows up in the text area.
* Section editing doesn't work at all with FCKeditor (no matter which browser is used) - don't know if this is unsupported or a bug.

Florian, can you test with IE7 ?

Harry,
I've just summarized the remaining issues. I've experienced the same issue with IE7 like you with IE6. I did completely clear cache, cookies a.s.o. before.

It works fine for me with FF3 (WonXP), can't find anything broken. (maybe clear the browser cache will help ?)
With IE6 (for which support is unclear) it does not work:
- the checkbox state is correctly saved
- section edit links are shown
- but clicking one of them shows the complete page
- and there is no section selection part at the left of the screen.
Later today I can test with FF3 on Linux......

checkbox state in the user preferences isn't saved:
obsolete, was a browser cache issue

Harry, you're right... it was the browser cache. Thought hitting shift-reload should do the trick, too.
