[Axis2] new logo for Axis2

Hi all,
Nadana, who's been doing some work in the web admin module has done some
great work with the logo and I think it's kind of cool.

What do you all think ?

I always wondered if Axis2 really inherits anything at all from Axis1 :-)
Better make it completely different logo, need not resemble Axis1.

+1 for this format as a compact logo, but I still like the meshed gears
of dim's Axis2.PNG for a larger logo.

Never thought we had that much artists :D .. I prefer the one Venkat
sends (attchaed).
How about puting the feather to background of "Axis2" word. It is bit
out of place as the dot of I. I do not feel very good putting it as I.

Yep, the dot in "A" should coincide with the wheel center. Glen, The
feather need not represent the dot on "I", its just like the
decoration in the cap. Here is the logo after moving the A and
compacting it vertically.

Re: [Axis2] new logo for Axis2

I like the general design a lot, and would make two changes:

1) I think that Venkat actually meant making the dot in the middle of the A
the "axis" of the gear. I agree, and would do that by moving the gear up
and to the right. This would also make the logo a little smaller. It might
be even cooler to add another (linked) gear centered on the dot between the
I and the S....

2) I don't actually like the feather as the dot on the "i", I think it's
visually unbalanced. What about making the feather the actual "I" itself?
i.e. rotate the feather 90 degrees counterclockwise and replace the "I" with
it.

Nice work Dims :-)
May be one middle wheel is enough, so that the logo is not too high.
Also the "A" in Axis can be moved left so the it hinges on the wheel center.

First, Dims! nice work!
Next instead of going for two different logos, I thought of tweaking with
both the logos to come up with a single logo. Just some MSPaint editing in
some few free cycles gave me something like this. Have a look at it.

Wow, what a change a small image has done to the mailing list. I haven't
seen this much of response to issues in JIRA (kidding ... ;-) )
Dims, you are having some creative designing skills too.

Anyway, I like the second version of the image, u've done after Venkat's
suggestion. But, as Sanjiva mentioned, its better to have something
connected with the earlier axis image too, as it has some already
established value. So can we have both ? One can pick anyone depending
on the choice.

In general note that you can't get too small without losing the detail on
the feather anyway.

I think a smaller version

The wheels, aside from the "axis" pun (which I like), are also gears, which

classically represent the idea of a machine with interlinking parts

transferring energy (or messages) from one component to another. I like

that imagery a lot - which is one reason I'd try to stick with at least two

meshed gears if we go with this.

Another simpler way to get the same effect, actually, might be to get rid of

the "background" gears entirely and replace the two curves in the "X" with

meshing gear teeth....

Can we do another version with the old font and style too? Basically
take the old one and add a "2" .. couple of options would be great to
see (superscript, subscript, same level, bigger (to encompass the
feather) etc..

I'm not a big fan of the old one, but it is a recognized logo - so I'd
personally rather not change that but rather add something to it.

Sanjiva.

If not anything, the feather should move a little to the left so that its
stalk appears to cut across replacing the 'dot' above "I" in AXIS. Alignment
of feather in 1.x logo describes what I exactly have in mind. And unless we
want the product to be also called Axis Squared (I feel, not appropriate) we
should bring down the elevation of '2' in the logo, as suggested by Ruchith.
 Just a thought, though!

Hmm.. forgive me for saying this but to me the earlier font seems less
professional :) (I always thought it could be improved but hey, I'm no
graphics guy).To me the font in this seems much better (at least a bit more
professional) and Ruchith's suggession also seems to be reasonable.

Hi,

Cool... Nice work Nadana

just one comment ... can we make '2' a little bit taller so it starts
at the same level as the other letters (remove the superscript). Right
now IMHO it sounds like "Axis into the power two" :-)

Thanks,
Ruchith
