[Issue 127229] New: Total page number is not recalculated after decreasing page width value in huge document

https://bz.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=127229

          Issue ID: 127229
        Issue Type: DEFECT
           Summary: Total page number is not recalculated after decreasing
                    page width value in huge document
           Product: Writer
           Version: 4.1.3
          Hardware: Mac
                OS: macOS 10.12
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: Normal
          Priority: P5 (lowest)
         Component: formatting
          Assignee: issues@openoffice.apache.org
          Reporter: vladimir@unity3d.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 85871
  --> https://bz.apache.org/ooo/attachment.cgi?id=85871&action=edit
testBigNumberOfPages

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open OO;
2. Open attached 'test_big_number_of_pages.odt' file;
3. Right mouse click on any page and select 'Page' from the context menu;
4. Observe total page number in the bottom left corner of the page (should be
around 11516) and remember it;
4. Input 1.78 to Width field (lowest possible accepted value);
5. Click ok;
6. Wait for several seconds after document is being re-formatted;
7. Observe total page number and compare it to the one obtained at step 4.

Actual result:
The number of pages doesn't change.

Expected result:
The number of page should be increased up to 33 times, since page's width was
significantly decreased.
If recalculated total page number is bigger than OO can handle, appropriate
message should be displayed and formatting should not happen.

Notes:
- Reproducible in AOO413m1(Build:9783)  -  Rev. 1761381
2016-09-23 02:39:34 (Fri, 23 Sep 2016) on OSX 10.12.1;
- Reproducible for huge documents;
- Not reproducible for small document, having only 1 page.

This is the normal behaviour. AOO counts the pages in background if this is
necessary. But it lets you continue working. Please press the key combination
to jump to the end of the document ([Ctrl]+[End] or something similar). Now the
page number should be correct. If NOT, then maybe there is a bug.

Sorry, was mistaken in the last message, the doc has been increased by 120
pages, not words.

I could reproduce this on my Mac (10.12.1 version) and the Command + low arrow
combination does go the last page where the last page number is displayed.
However, not using this command and just scrolling down to the last page, the
document behaves sometimes that the last page has been reached and the counting
process stops. After more than 15 seconds, the scroll down will start working
and we can continue scrolling down.

Tested on AOO version 4.1.3 / Mac Sierra v10.12.1

- obtained the expected behavior and based on the comments mentioned by mroe,
this is not a bug and this specific issue can be closed ;

- However, there is a problem when scrolling down the pages where the
calculation of the total number pages gets stuck and there is a time delay
before the process can continue (scrolling down again) ;
- As a comparison, in Word, the calculation of the total number of pages is
made directly.

Thanks for suggestions! I've just tried using cmd + right arrow key combination
on Mac (analogue of Ctrl + End on Windows) and total page number has increased
only by 120 words (it should have been increased by 33 times).

In the small document, consisting on 1 page the behaviour is different. After
decreasing page width total page number increases by 22 times (from 1 to 22
pages), however when scrolling down the document, this number increases to 33.
See attached 'test_small_doc" document.
This might be another symptom of the incorrect total page recalculation bug.
