I've got a fairly small example, test.xsl:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<xsl:stylesheet xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform version="1.0">

<xsl:output method="xml" indent="yes"/>

<xsl:strip-space elements="*"/>

<xsl:template match="/">
  <xsl:value-of select="document('/gfink/xsl/xml/test.xsl')"/>
</xsl:template>

</xsl:stylesheet>

I get SystemId Unknown; Line 9; Column 65

(I know its reading the file because if i give it a bogus file name that 
doesn't exist I get a different more explicable error)
