Adding Profiler to Cocoon 1.7.4

Suppose I have a site running on Cocoon 1.7.4, and suppose I cannot upgrade
to 1.8.2, even though I know it's a good idea.  Can I just add Profiler.java
to 1.7.4, modify Engine.java to use it, add profiler.enabled = true to
cocoon.properties, and rebuild?  Or is there more to it than that?
