jk_post_config NULL error

Platform: RedHat 6.2, Apache 1.3.12 
TomCat: 3.2 beta 2

Build mod_jk with apxs as desribed in the docs. When I start Apache with
mod_jk.conf included (at the end, after all the modules that come with
RedHat are loaded), following message is printed on stdout (not any of the
logs):

jk_post_config NULL

and httpd doesn't start. mod_jk.conf and workers.properties are close to
what came with the dist (except for path changes).

Has anyone had any success with mod_jk on RedHat 6.2?
